Stephen Martyak launched studioTYAK in the fall of 2012. Within a few short months the design studio made an imprint on the city with the opening of The Sinclair, an authentic rock club/restaurant hybrid in Harvard Square, and Boston Chops, an urban steak bistro in the South End. Stephen was named one of Boston's Hottest Up and Comers by Zagat Boston in their 2013 "30 Under 30" list. Recent hits include Loretta's Last Call, Boston's first country music bar on Lansdowne Street, which was named one of the 21 Best Designed Restaurants in the Country in 2015.
This southern boy, music lover, and longtime foodie is foremost a designer, formally trained as an Architect, with experience in high-end commercial and residential architecture and interiors, as well as lighting, furniture, and graphic design. He gained his early experience at Flavin Architects, a boutique residential firm in Boston and has collaborated with designers from Paris, New York, and Vancouver. It was later that Stephen discovered his knack for restaurant design and deepened his understanding of the intimate relationship between design and construction while acting as the Director of Design for a Boston-based construction company.
Stephen is an associate member of the Boston Society of Architects, a founding member of Design Museum Boston, and a member of the Steering Committee for the Young Leaders Council at Fenway Health. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Design Studies for the Boston Architectural College (Valedictorian) and a Professional Master of Architecture Degree from Savannah College of Art and Design.

Nick Gianetti joined the studioTYAK team in the summer of 2015 as the studio’s junior designer. This born and bred New Englander, avid cyclist and self-taught guitar player brings a strong eye for design and a jack-of-all-trades mentality. Following an internship with the Boston Society of Architects, Nick began his career at the residential design firm, Smart Architecture. While at Smart, he gained a strong understanding for the difference between design theory and design reality. In his spare time, Nick recently launched the New England themed t-shirt line Eastern Seaboard.
Nick holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Architecture and a Master of Architecture Degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology.
